Nonprofits seeking funding

Criteria and timeline below are a starting draft — confirm with the Foundation’s grants committee before publishing.

Step 1

Eligibility

501(c)(3) status (or fiscal sponsor), active service in Central Virginia, and a program matching one of the five focus areas.

Step 2

What to submit

A short letter of inquiry: organization overview, the program, amount requested, and your most recent Form 990.

Step 3

Review timeline

The board reviews inquiries quarterly. Expect a response within 8–10 weeks of submission.

Step 4

Decisions

All applicants are notified in writing, whether funded or not. Funded partners appear on the Partners & Grants page.

Volunteer days

Seasonal work alongside funded partners — home builds, food distribution, park cleanups. Open to the public; no experience required.

Sponsor an event

Underwrite a partner fundraiser or Foundation-hosted community event. Sponsorship packages available at multiple levels.
